Our next Monday book club is on 6th April when we’ll discuss The Boy from the Sea by Garrett Carr. An Observer Best Debut of the Year, the book is praised as “compassionate, lyrical and full of devilment” by Louise Kennedy (author of Trespasses) and “a joy . . . Vivid, loving and genuinely funny” by The Sunday Times when they selected it as a Best Book of the Year.
Our next Monday book club is on 4th May when we’ll discuss The Names by Florence Knapp, which was chosen as a Book of the Year by the Guardian, Independent, and the Sunday Times who said 'I've just been blown away by the best debut novel in years . . . A genius idea for a book’.
Our next Monday book club is on 1st June when we’ll discuss The Director by Daniel Kehlmann, translated by Ross Benjamin. The book is shortlisted for the 2026 International Booker Prize and has been selected as a 2025 Book of the Year by the Times Literary Supplement and the Observer, among others. Salman Rushdie has described The Director as “a dazzling performance and a real page turner”, while the Wall Street Journal said that it’s “nothing short of brilliant”.
Our next Monday book club is on 6th July when we’ll discuss winner of the 2026 Climate Fiction Prize, Hum by Helen Phillips. Chair of Judges, Arifa Akbar, described Hum as “a book that deals with love, community and family in the face of climate crisis, privilege and the age of AI” while fellow judge Jessie Greengrass said that it is “beautiful and intimate, this novel about the difficulties of love and care in a world which is increasingly mediated by technology is one I’ve found myself thinking about long after finishing the last page”.
Our next Monday book club is on 3rd August when we’ll discuss winner of the 2026 Women’s Prize for Fiction, The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. “The year's breakout novel no one saw coming” (Wall Street Journal) was a BBC Radio 2 Book Club Pick and a Times Book of the Year, who praised it as “a warm, funny gem of a novel”.
Our next Monday book club is on 7th September when we’ll discuss Helm by Sarah Hall, a wondrous, elemental novel from “a writer of show-stopping genius” (the Guardian). The book was a Guardian, Observer, New Statesman, Financial Times, Independent and BBC Book of the Year and described as “a truly astonishing thing” by George Monbiot, “pulsing with life and lyricism” by the Spectator, and “delightfully playful” by Andrew Miller.
