Join us for the perfect combination on a Friday evening in December!

Sample delicious locally made spirits and learn about the botanicals that make them so special, alongside relaxed festive book browsing in the cosy atmosphere of the Book Tree.

Sloemotion Distillery is a local business with sustainability and nature at the heart of what they do. We’re excited to partner with them again for another fantastic event in the bookshop.

As well as a bar serving cocktails, there’ll be a pop-up shop so you’ll have the opportunity to buy a full bottle of your favourite, including a tempting range of seasonal liqueurs. The bookshop will be open exclusively for those at the event so you can enjoy delving into the world of botanical spirits alongside relaxed book browsing in the cosy atmosphere of the Book Tree.

Book clubs are very welcome to use this evening in the bookshop to meet. Just let us know if your group would like to do this and we’ll put out chairs for you.

The bookshop will be open from 7pm, when the bar will also open.

The event is free to attend, but please RSVP using the form below or by contacting the bookshop. While walk-ins on the night are very welcome, space in the shop is limited and priority will be given to those who have booked in advance.

From Sloemotion Distillery:

Founded in 2002, Sloemotion Distillery is an artisan business creating great tasting spirits and liqueurs. We are based at Green Farm, in the village of Barton-le-Willows, just north of York and near to the market town of Malton, Yorkshire’s food capital.

The business began almost by accident, when a farming initiative to improve wildlife habitats resulted in an abundance of sloes. To Joff Curtoys, an ecologist by training, who had grown up drinking his father’s home-made Sloe Gin, an idea began to take shape and Sloemotion was born.

The fields, rich meadows, woodlands and especially the tangled hedgerows in North Yorkshire provided the inspiration for the business and are still at the heart of every decision made.
