About the event

Meet pony book author Cressida Burton, and take part in this fun-filled Easter Holiday activity session!

Cressida’s fantastic Ravensbay School series combines friendship and adventure with the ultimate boarding school — an equestrian academy where students get to ride horses every day, take pony club tests, and ride in competitions!

Cressida is also the author of a stand-alone novel, The Starlight Pony, featuring a teenage boy who has been suspended from school and is sent to stay with his aunt in a coastal village (he hates it there). Everything changes when he sees the silhouette of a pony one night, even though no one believes him. It’s a brilliant story of the positive impact of horses, and a young boy finding where he belongs.

Easter Holiday Fun!

At this interactive event you’ll learn about ponies, take part in fun horsey activities such as colouring and quizzes, hear an extract from The Starlight Pony, and have the chance to ask Cressida questions. There will be horsey goodies up for grabs too!

All of Cressida’s stories are perfect for readers of 8 years and older (there is no upper age limit)! The books and activity session are suitable for confident younger readers too.

Why not have a go at solving Cressida’s horsey challenge activity sheet? They are free to pick up in the shop any time before the event (when you’ll find out the answers). There will be additional activities on the day — you can be sure to learn lots about ponies both before and during the event!

About the Ravensbay School Series

Eleven-year-old Paige Buchanan has won a funded place at Ravensbay Boarding School and Equestrian Academy. Catapulted from her quiet Edinburgh life into a privileged world, she discovers a whole new vocabulary: snacks are ‘tuck’, homework is ‘prep’ and the words ‘competition girl’ aren’t meant as a compliment!

Convinced she’ll never fit in, Paige is all set to give up her place at school and return home when she sees a blue roan mare running wild in the fields. It’s love at first sight for Paige, but the mare, Blue Angel, is to be sold as dangerous unless someone can save her.

Suddenly Paige has a reason to stay, but can she face her fears, make friends and, ultimately, save the pony of her dreams from a terrible fate?

First Term at Ravenbay is the first title in this modern equestrian boarding school series which follows Paige and her school-mates from their very first day in year seven, through the school years, term by term.

About the Author

Cressida's stories are all set on the stunning North Yorkshire coast and within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, where she lives with her husband, Mr B, and their big ginger floof of a cat.
