About the event

A sublime mix of traditional and modern folk, combining superb musicianship, a voice that will give you shivers at times and, most of all, lyrics to make you think and listen — FATEA Magazine (Rory Stanbridge)

We are thrilled to welcome the fantastic Becky Mills to close our summer series of music events, Folk at the Book Tree!

Becky tells magical stories from the North York moors: time-travelling through folklore, family, love & loss. She weaves keen wit and beautiful playing into a very English alt-folk show, and brings a uniquely personal, modern slant to the folk genre.

A close collaborator with Fairport Convention founder Ashley Hutchings MBE, Becky has also worked with Pentangle, Barbara Dickson and Ken Nicol, as well as being a former member of acclaimed all-girl ensemble Waking The Witch.

Listeners and audiences have characterised Becky’s touching, witty and evocative songs as “uplifting”, “heart-rending” and “sung from the heart”, and after 20 years on the circuit (including gigs at Glastonbury, Trowbridge and Cambridge festivals) she is a highly-regarded singer, songwriter and instrumentalist.

Drinks will be available to purchase at an informal bar before the show and during the interval. The concert will be in our atmospheric upstairs performance space, surrounded by the building's old oak beams.

Doors will open from 7pm, and the performance will start at 7.30pm.
