About the event

Join us for Story Time Saturday!

This week we will read The Bowerbird by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Catherine Rayner.

The Bowerbird is the irresistible tale of Bert – a small bird with a very big heart. Bert the bowerbird has made the most perfect bower nest, complete with a pretty purple flower, and is hoping it will help him to meet the bird of his dreams. But will all his efforts to create a beautiful display be enough to win over Nanette? A stunningly illustrated book with a wonderful rhyming tale, from the creators of The Go-Away Bird.

This beautiful wildlife inspired book has been shortlisted for this year's Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration.

Settle in to a comfy seat, and enjoy a brilliant story in our cosy children's area! We choose a different picture book to read each week, always a story which is highly recommended, and usually recently published in paperback. Each week's chosen book will be available with a 10% discount if you'd like to return to it again and again.

You can just drop in on the day,  but booking ahead gives us an idea of how many people to expect and helps us to put the right number of chairs out.

The story reading will start at 11am. As this is during shop opening hours, simply turn up a little ahead of the time to find a seat. A choice of beanbags, small chairs, floor cushions and carpet space are on a first come, first served basis. There should be plenty of space for everyone to sit somewhere comfy! We will put adult sized chairs out on the morning too.

We hope you enjoy the story :)
