About the event
We are delighted to welcome children’s Author and Illustrator Dawn Treacher back to the Book Tree to mark the publication of her exciting new adventure novel for readers aged 8+ (the book and event will also be suitable for slightly younger children at parental discretion).
Lost in Time is a time-hopping story that takes readers on an edge of seat adventure with emotional resonance. The book is a unique mix of history, traditional sci-fi and an adventure that feels modern — a combination that works brilliantly!
At the event you’ll take part in a fun craft activity and make your own moving clock to take home! You’ll also be one of the first to hear an extract from Lost in Time, and have the chance to ask Dawn questions about her books and her work writing and illustrating stories.
Booking is essential as spaces for the activity are limited. Adults can optionally book tickets to accompany a child to the event, which will guarantee a seat to watch without participating in the craft activity.
About the Book
For Connie’s Gran, time is shrinking due to dementia, and it’s as if Gramps has a secret he will never tell. Thank goodness for her friend, Nevis, an old clock shop owner and his one eyed ginger cat called Captain. However, when an infestation of white mice mysteriously makes time start to disappear, Connie fears time may stop altogether.
After following a white mouse through the town and into some subterranian tunnels, Connie finds herself thrust into a perilous adventure that could unravel the secrets of her past in a world far different from her own. Together with the Time Thief’s Daughter and a new robot friend named Fidget, Connie must travel through this dangerous new world in search of a way home before her own time runs out.
This is a story of how time can control our lives if we let it, a story of friendship and family, and the importance of embracing what is important to us.
